Things I dislike about wray:
1. Random mofotic behaviour against any kind of improvements for the village. For example the free 50,000 pounds given to the school to create a tennis/basketball thing. Bitter twisted lonely people with no life moan about this and the villagfe does not benefit at all.

Well i must concur, however perhaps not in such blunt terms. I think what derdie is trying to say is that all this fuss over the school gaining some benefit from the council and being able to create a whole new area for the school to use as well as the public is a great idea! Why must so many people be so bitter?

Yeh i agree. Also why is so much moeny wasted on reparing thay stupid old beuilding thing, the institute. Pah! Build a new 1!

Hi folks, thanks for posting, had to moderate the odd little word but have left the cute spellings...
everyone is entitled to their opinions, and feel free to post them here, but get your facts right first if you wanna quote facts, I think it was well over £50k that was lost but I'm not sure. And it wasn't exactly free, a lot of people went to a lot of trouble to source that funding.
But -
The majority rules does it not? Or does the majority not bother to do anything then moan about it? Why didn't we get the Multi surface whotsit? any ideas? Keep it clean...

Glad to hear that someone has a true opinion on the subject of the "non mugga" in Wray. i think it was a crying shame for the klu klux clan to have had so much power in making people believe that it would be a disastrous and unsightly thing to bring into our village. I think that sport should be available to all, and the school kids would have loved it, and so would i, what could have been more fun and healthier for me than to have gone onto the school field in summer and had a game of tennis. Oh well i guess we have a village more than half full of mean greedy fuddyduddies, who selfishly want to just look at green grass growing. Keep in touch whoever you are, maybe one day we could get a plan going to oust this klu klux clan!!!!!!!

Hey Polly, totally agree with you there, I think we were done out of a great asset. My grandchildren would have had hours of fun on the mugga, much better for them than watching TV. Do you know what the surface was going to be, was it tarmac or something else? Could we play bowls on it? Let us know if you know anything, maybe we could start an appeal to get it after all. Where on the school field would it be situated? If it was at one side the boys could still play football couldn't they? do you know anyone on the committee I could contact?

Hi, if you are hopping the pond I gather it is Bob in Wray Colorado is it?
Glad you stopped by.

The answer to the first question is that a Mugga is a name for a surface that you play games on, can't think what it stands for - I did know once but a lot of water has passed under the bridge since then, something like multi surface games area or similar. The school got the money to make one on their field, but it turns out that the village didn't want it, so they haven't made it. I think those are the facts but I am willing to stand corrected. Actually it could be muga, as in multi user games area, that springs to mind, perhaps it was spelt wrong before. Please post if you know the answer folks.

I got the forum free from Proboards, they let us have it as long as we keep it clean and put up with the advertising. If you get one for your site I will visit it on your side of the pond. Put a link on the friends and families forum to your site if you like, it could get quite interesting. Have you had any hits from the link on the wray website? Your people contact me from time to time.

Mugga, I like that. To think that we boring Americans just call those fields; fields. Some folks do call golf courses as links, but not anyone that has any social accountabilty. We have no imagination! So to help our low threshold to nic-names, I have decided to invent a few. Our fields over here that cattle graze on, are often reffered to as pastures. My moniquer for it shall now be, Moo Mugga's. What do you think? Any possiblities of it catching on over there? I just read what I wrote above and it has become apparent to me that we Americans have a weak sense of humor too.

Have you heard this one?

The preacher, in his Sunday sermon, used the topic "Forgive Your Enemies" to preach to his flock. After a long-winded sermon, he asked how many were willing to forgive their enemies. About half of the people in the church held up their hands.

Not satisfied with less than 100% he argued his point for another twenty minutes and then repeated his question. This time he received a response of about 80 percent.

Still unsatisfied, he lectured for another 15 minutes and then repeated his question. With all thoughts now on Sunday dinner, every member of his congregation responded that they were willing to forgive their enemies... except one elderly lady in the rear.

Frustrated, at not reaching his goal of 100%, the preacher tried to shame her into submission by asking in mock disbelief, "Mrs. Jones, are you not willing to forgive your enemies?"

"I don't have any," the little old lady replied.

"Mrs. Jones, that is very unusual and probably not at all accurate. Just exactly how old are you?"

"Ninety three."

Still harassing her, the preacher said, "Mrs. Jones, please come down in front of the church and tell the congregation how a person can possibly live to be ninety-three, and not have even one enemy in the world."

The little sweetheart of a lady tottered down the aisle, very slowly, turned to her church family, smiled serenely and said, "It's easy, I just outlived the old farts."
