G'Day Chris: > > I may be grasping at straws!, but I'm trying to discover more information of the 'Furness' families who originated from the village of 'Wray' in the early 19th Century. There seems to have been quite a few 'Furness's' around in the early 1800's. I'm particularly trying to find the origins of George Furness born 1821 who moved across the Pennines to Marsden near Hudderfield. Others moved to Accrington. Do you know of anyone in the village that may be able to help me and if and where I may be able to get any information from Parish Church records. There seems to be very little on the Internet in the way of records, baptisms, marriages or anything else regards the village of Wray. Hopefully there may some local 'Genealogist' who might be prepared to correspond and help with my dilemma. Look forward to hearing from you in due course. Kind Regards: Trevor Lawton from Perth, OZ

G'Day again from Perth:
Since my initial enquiry regard the 'Furness Family' of Melling, Wray by Hornby, Lancashire. I have made quite a bit of progress, identifying Anthony & Sarah Furness as the probable origin of my ancestors.
I have children from this couple as William (1812) Jane (1815) Robert (1819) George (1821) John (1822), information which has helped enormously to develop numerous branches on the 'Furness Family Tree'.
I would greatly appreciate any further 'Snippets' of information, or any details, memorials, relevant old photo's, or indeed anything at all that may assist me identify more about this the history of Anthony & Sarah Furness and their origins.
My e-mail address for anyone wishing to contact me direct is:

I look forward to any response!.
Kind Regards: Trevor Lawton from Perth, Australia

Hi Trevor, glad you posted and hope you get some replies. We are hoping to get broadband in the village soon and so lots more people will take the time to visit these pages. It may take a while for them to get used to using it, we have been limited for a long time by slow modems, but soon the service will be in the village and then we will be flying. Keep checking this site. I will send you the photo of Hornby Church you asked for later in the week. ::)I keep forgetting my camera... chris.
