Hi,
When I was visiting last summer, a couple of guys in an unlicensed lorry drove off with some of my uncle's roofing stones from thingy Hill. When I asked around, I heard stories of similar people trying to break into my other uncle's joiner's shop, another fellow said he'd had his saddles stolen, and another had his tools taken.
I was just curious if these wandering thieves had taken a break for the winter, or if they're still driving around Wray and Roeburndale looking to cause trouble. Has anyone else been victimized by these folk?

Hi Paul, we used to get a few unwelcome visitors, but we started a neighbourhood watch scheme and they are hopefully a thing of the past now. I suppose rural areas don't have the crime rate of some towns so it is up to us to watch out for each other as there isn't a very high police presence in the country. I haven't heard of any others so you may be right, the winter puts them off! We have some hefty lads around the valley, so if they come back don't worry about your uncle we will keep an eye on him. With the advent of broadband and all the farm lads using mobiles it is a lot easier to follow them these days and we can block roads with a tractor and pin them in until the real police arrive. Power to the people!

A little girl walks into a pet shop and asks in the sweetest little lisp: "Excuthe me, mithter, do you keep wittle wabbits?" And the shopkeeper gets down on his knees, so that he's on her level, and asks: "Do you want a wittle white wabby or a soft and fuwwy bwack wabby or maybe one like that cute wittle bwown wabby over there?" She in turn puts her hands on her knees, leans forward and says in a quiet voice: "I don't fink my pyfon really giveths a thit." ;D

My neighbor, the bachelor, dropped by last night to inquire of me if I had seen his dog? Since we live out in the country where miles seperate neighbors, a dog can be a hard critter to spot, so naturally I was concerned with my neighbors plight. Until he mentioned that he surely would miss the dog if he did not get back home to clean up the dinner plates. My bachelor neighbor might actually have to wash the dishes himself if the dog did not return! ;D
