[glow=red,2,300]It has come round again...[/glow] Yes it is approaching that time of year again and we are all racking our brains trying to think of what scarecrows to make this time. It is always a great week to be in Wray because of all the smiling happy faces walking about spotting the scarecrows. Coaches come out from the nursing homes with people to give them a day out to remember. Delicious home made refreshments are served in the institute by the village ladies. The children from the school perform plays and do maypole dances. What a wonderful week it will be. Keep an eye on the village website for photos, they will start to appear as the festival grows... Chris

As far as starting new threads, this is what we see when we click the "New Thread" button, "Sorry, only Administrators and Moderators can create new threads."

Hi Bob, that's me being stupid again, I should have known that. I started a thread for scarecrows when I was logged in, I have never tried to start one as a guest. doh.. I will post the pictures on the wray village website as I get them. I just noticed today that the link to the scarecrow photos had died, the website I was using must have dropped my free space so I will have to find some more free storage. I have so many photos now I am having a job storing them where people can view them. Good job you asked or I wouldn't have noticed it! Thanks chris

Just sorted out the website again and the link to the photos is working now. I will replace it with new ones when I get them. I enjoyed looking at all the old photos from last year's festival. I checked on the ones at the bottom of the page from 2002, and that really took me back... ...when we get broadband we will be able to look at them all without worrying how much the phone is costing or who is trying to get through a call. This is kind of scary; A young monk arrives at the monastery. He is assigned to help the other monks in copying the old canons and laws of the church by hand. He notices, however, that all of the monks are copying from copies, not from the original manuscript. So, the new monk goes to the abbot to question this, pointing out that if someone made even a small error in the first copy, it would never be picked up. In fact, that error would be continued in all of the subsequent copies. The Abbot says, "We have been copying from the copies for centuries, but you make a good point, my son." So, he goes down into the dark caves underneath the monastery where the original manuscript is held in a locked vault that hasn't been opened for hundreds of years. Hours go by and nobody sees the old abbot. Eventually the young monk gets worried and goes downstairs to look for him. He sees him banging his head against the wall. His forehead is all bloody and bruised and he is crying uncontrollably. The young monk asks the old abbot,"What's wrong, father?" In a choking voice, the old abbot replies, "The word is celebrate, not celibate!"

Thought about a scarecrow all day and all I could come up with is this; An Englishman and an American find themselves lost in an endless cornfield when they bump into a scarecrow. After days without water and food, they are slightly delerious when the Englisman notices a shiny oil lamp at the base of the scarecrow. They rub the lamp and out comes a genie. Since they all rubbed the lamp the genie grants each one a single wish. The American goes first and wishes to be transported back to his house where his pool was filled with beautiful women. The genie claps his hands and the American vanishes in a flash of light. The Englisman wishes to be transported back to his house where he knows his wife will be eagerly awaiting him. Once again the Genie claps his hands and the Englishman vanishes. The Scarecrow sits down and thinks about what he should wish for. Suddenly realizing he is all alone in the cornfield, he promptly wishes that the Texan and the Englishman were back. Maybe I should keep thinking?

Well thinking IS what you are really good at... ...I am sure you will come up with some more given time but that was a good one, thanks for making us smile. [glow=red,2,300]Quote[/glow]A day without laughter is a day wasted. Chris.

Maundy Thursday Now the betrayer had arranged a signal with them: "The one I kiss is the man; arrest him and lead him away under guard." "Am I leading a rebellion," said Jesus, "that you have come out with swords and clubs to capture me?"

I think we should have a daily scripture thread, shall I start one for you? Chris

I would love to see a daily scripture, but personally, I would only contribute once in a great while. I also love your new pix. Everyone should have their own drum to march too.
